before they're gone
Dementia is a difficult disease to understand. It pushes people away from their family and friends, because they feel there is no point in spending time with someone who doesn’t recognise them, while reminding them of their own vulnerability. This means that the partners of Dementia sufferers become sufferers too, as they're abandoned by their loved ones when they need them most.
We wanted people to realise that they should be there for these carers, so we told a real life story that explained just how lonely they are.
